How Can We Sleep at Night?
Thread, yarn, recycled garments
Kyle Huffman, 2025
The quilt form seemed like the perfect vehicle to address issues of insomnia in these times of political distress. The calming blue and black stripes of the traditional quilt structure called Roman Coins mimic the stacking stripes of the barcodes found on sleep medications. Stitched on the obverse side, their names and methods and tactics for inducing sleep are interspersed with words, intended to dispirit and harm us.
